Houston Astros skipper Dusty Baker has one great take on pitchers using foreign substances.

With MLB cracking down on pitchers using foreign substances to gain an advantage, Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker gives one amazing analogy on the situation to make us all laugh.

“You’re not supposed to break the speed limit, but you do.”

While Baker did not manage the 2017 Astros, he still works for the organization most closely associated with widespread cheating in baseball. Baker is a baseball lifer and has seen it all in his hall-of-fame-level career. If a player or a team is not trying to get an advantage, they are going to pay a price for it because some other organizations will have no issues with bending the rules.

Baker’s great take on pitchers using foreign substances is the breath of fresh air we all needed.

Houston Astros: Dusty Baker’s take on foreign substances has us in stitches

Even if foreign substance abuse has gotten out of hand in baseball, it is not like other teams will not find another way to sneak a fast one past the MLB down the line. The league office is forever playing catch-up when it comes to seeking a fleeting advantage. Again, this is not one team reportedly going rogue and breaking the rules at all costs. Everybody is doing it these days.

As far as how this will impact Baker’s ballclub, Houston is still one of the best teams in the American League. While they may not win the AL West this year, the Astros are talented enough to get into the postseason as one of two wild card teams. Even in a down year for the team, the Astros were able to reach the ALCS a season ago as a second-place finisher in the AL West.

Stop lying to yourself when you claim to have never broken the speed limit in your adult life.
