1. Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox may not have expected a ton from this season, but what they’ve gotten has been encouraging to say the least. Boston is second in the AL East and only 1.5 games behind the Rays.

There’s room to make a move or two to ensure a spot in the postseason while taking advantage of the relative overachievement so far.

Like just about everyone else, the Red Sox will be looking at Washington and licking their chops at the possibility of adding Max Scherzer to a starting group that has already been pretty darn solid.

Still, that lineup is bound to revert to the mean, which would make an addition like Scherzer a sure-fire way to keep things rolling. Getting Chris Sale back from injury alone will be a boost, but the pressure would be lessened with an arm like Scherzer’s holding things down.

There is always the possibility of finding a bat for the outfield or first base. The team has managed with the likes of Bobby Dalbec, Kike Hernandez and Hunter Renfroe, but upgrades are out there, including Jesus Aguilar or Starling Marte of the Marlins.
