NFC North . . Detroit Lions . 50. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 2. player

Dan Campbell might enjoy ‘biting kneecaps’, but he does know who to pump up a locker room. The addition of new GM Brad Holmes proves that Detroit is heading in the right direction and has a plan ahead.

That plan though does require at least one season of a rebuild.

Holmes’ first draft class was impressive, to say the least. Penei Sewell might be the safest tackle prospect in five years and should pencil in at right tackle. Defensively, names like Levi Onwuzurike, Derrick Barnes and Ifeatu Melifonwu all should see significant snaps in Aaron Glenn’s zone-based defense.

The real problem remains under center with Jared Goff. The former Rams starter is a winner, but was he a product of Sean McVay and Los Angeles weapons, or rather himself? Will the run game be able to bail him out or will he feel the pressure and collapse.

In Detroit, the offensive line should hold, but Goff will be downgrading at wide receiver. TJ Hockenson is an emerging tight end while Amon-Ra St. Brown was a tremendous value pick on Day 3. Outside of the two, there’s little to be excited about.

Blame Goff or not, this will be a long season in the Motor City, but one expected by the front office.
