3 hitters the Yankees should trade for right now

Starling Marte best solves the Yankees’ needs at the plate and in centerfield
Though trading for Ketel Marte or Adam Fraizer could provide the spark plug the Yankees’ offense needs in the second half, no player checks more boxes for New York than Miami Marlins centerfielder Starling Marte. He is the most proven of these three potential trade candidates, as well as the only one playing on an expiring deal for a non-contending team in the National League.
While Marte has only played in 33 games for the Fish this season, he is slashing .325/.431/.525 this year in limited action. Marte will not be turning 33-years-old until October. Because he is playing on an expiring contract, the Yankees would be able to get him without having to give up as much as they would for Frazier with the Pirates or Ketel Marte with the Diamondbacks in a deal.
Starling Marte is more of an every day outfielder than Frazier, but does not offer the defensive versatility of Ketel Marte at this point of his MLB career. However, the Yankees’ biggest offensive need is in centerfield with Aaron Hicks now out for the season. While New York would likely prefer to trade for a left-handed bat, Marte has ample postseason experience under his belt as well.
Overall, the Yankees are in great shape to address their needs at the deadline. What they are looking for should be readily available, especially on non-contending teams in the other league. While adding a hitter or any sort of upgrade at centerfield or to the rotation may not get them into the postseason, the Yankees have to be aggressive here if they want to play meaningful baseball.
