10. Buddy and Jim Boeheim – Syracuse

Is this a bit of recency bias? I don’t think so. I certainly am counting on Buddy continuing his progress and putting up even bigger numbers this season. He has improved from 6.8 points/game to 15.3 and 17.8 this past season. During the NCAA Tournament, he averaged 22.3 points while shooting nearly 44 percent from 3-point range.

He should finish his career with the second most three-point baskets in Syracuse history. That’s good for first at most programs since he’s chasing Gerry McNamara’s incredible 400 three-pointers. This is a special family season at the Carrier Dome since older brother Jimmy brings his 16.7 points and 5.6 rebounds/game with him from Cornell.

9. Bryce and Steve Alford – UCLA

Bryce is the only player on this list who wasn’t as good a player as his dad. But Bryce was a nice player who got a lot of criticism for only playing because he was the coach’s kid. Just not true. After averaging 8 points per game and being named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman team in 2013, Bryce improved to 15.4, 16.1 and 15.5 the next three years. He shot 43 percent from 3 his senior year and 40% for his career. He was First-Team All-Pac-12 his senior season.
