It’s MLB Trade Rumors season and the White Sox have reportedly zeroed in on a trade replacement for the injured Nick Madrigal.

This season hasn’t quite gone the way the Chicago White Sox had hoped, but the team is far from being in a bad spot as the All-Star Break approaches.

In fact, despite some major injuries to key players in the lineup, the Sox remain in control of a top seed in the postseason and are showing no signs of slowing. Losing second baseman Nick Madrigal was the latest in a long line of unexpected injury blows, but it appears that Chicago is preparing to make a move that would replace him while he’s out and add depth for when he returns.

According to Bob Nightengale from USA Today, the White Sox and Diamondbacks are engaged in talks to send Eduardo Escobar to the South Side.

MLB Trade Rumors: White Sox talking trade with Diamondbacks

“The Chicago White Sox, looking for a replacement for Nick Madrigal, are engaged in trade talks with the Diamondbacks for Eduardo Escobar, who’s being shopped,” Nightengale tweeted on Monday. “Escobar, who’s earning $7.5M in the final year of his contract, is hitting .240 with 15 homers, 45 RBI with a .743 OPS.”

That’s all music to the ears of Sox fans who are tired of seeing a promising roster ravaged by injuries. Despite the setbacks, which also include the loss of both Luis Robert and Eloy Jiminez for the foreseeable future, the White Sox are in control of first place in the AL Central.

Adding Escobar brings back a familiar face to the division, as the infielder spent seven seasons with the Minnesota Twins before being traded to Arizona in 2018. Furthermore, Escobar made his MLB debut with the White Sox back in 2011 but was part of the Francisco Liriano trade package the following season.
