2. Sign a veteran point guard like Derrick Rose

If the NBA Playoffs showed fans anything, it is that the Jazz’s chances of winning took a massive hit once starting point guard Mike Conley missed all but one game in the Western Conference semifinals due to a hamstring injury. If anything, that showed the Jazz need to have a solid backup option off the bench.

Perhaps the best option that could come at a relatively affordable price is Derrick Rose.

After spending nearly two seasons with the Detroit Pistons, Rose was traded to the New York Knicks. The move turned out to be a tremendous one for both parties. Rose reunited with head coach Tom Thibodeau and the Knicks had a solid point guard to come off the bench.

While Rose was solid in the regular season, he really showed how valuable he can be to any team during the playoffs. While his teammates struggled converting on shots, Rose made them and at points carried the team in the first round against the Atlanta Hawks. Through five games, Rose averaged 19.4 points, 5.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds a night while shooting 47.6 percent from the field and 47.1 percent from behind the arc.

Rose hinted that he is unsure if the Knicks will bring him back for next season, since they are expected to make runs at the top free-agent point guards this summer. That is where the Jazz can strike and further improve their stout bench with Rose’s presence next season.
