Cleveland Cavaliers NBA Draft plans: Draft Evan Mobley with the No. 3 pick.

If drafting another guard is too much for the Cavaliers, they can select a big man to fill a need down low. Evan Mobley out of USC has many skills that translate into NBA success for a player his size. Standing a 7-feet and able to handle the ball, Mobley could be a welcomed sight down low for the Cavs.

During his freshman year at USC, the big man showed great touch, which a positive sign for his offensive game. He didn’t shoot the three enough, but with work, that can be added to his game. His freakish athleticism and frame make him a defensive nightmare down low. His 7-foot-4 wingspan also helps him on the perimeter, as he is a very talented defender out there too.

What might be the most slept-on part of Mobley’s game is his passing. Even though he only averaged 2.4 assists in college, he can pass really well, opening up things for his teammates. For a Cavaliers team that struggles in the assists column, his skills will be appreciated immediately. He’s still an unfinished product, but the upside is there. Him alongside Jarrett Allen in the paint could give Cleveland their frontcourt of the future.

With the No. 3 pick, The Cleveland Cavaliers have time to think about their options. They could accelerate their rebuild, add to their guard depth, or gain a big man as their anchor. They’re not on the clock yet, but time is ticking in Cleveland.
