1. Alabama won’t let them

Nick Saban.

That’s it. That’s the reason.

Saban does not lose to his former assistants. He has a 24-0 record against them. Three of those victories were over Kirby Smart and Georgia. Two of those were huge matchups in the CFP and the SEC Championship Game.

In fact, Alabama hasn’t lost to the Bulldogs since 2007, holding a six-game winning streak.

This year the Crimson Tide may be more vulnerable. They lost a host of talent from their title-winning squad. However, betting against Saban and his ability to reload at this point is folly. They recruit too well and develop too consistently. He’ll be back and waiting for Georgia in the SEC title game once again.

Even if the Bulldogs manage to get into the playoff without winning the SEC East, a matchup with Alabama in the playoff may still await.

Winning a national championship will involve going through the Tide one way or another. The safe bet there is on Alabama.
