2. TE Levine Toilolo

The Giants signed Toilolo to a two-year deal in March of 2020 to step in as their blocking tight end. Last season, that’s just what he was with five catches as he played 27 percent of the offensive snaps. In early March, in lieu of probably being cut, he agreed to a restructured contract that reduced his original pay of $2.95 million by nearly half. But that move only postponed what should be pretty easy for the Giants between now and Week 1.

At 6-foot-8 and 268 pounds, Toilolo is essentially an extra offensive tackle who also plays a fair amount of special teams (155 snaps in 2020). There’s value in the role he fills, even if it doesn’t dent the stat sheet. But with the signing of Kyle Rudolph, Toilolo is also now fourth on the tight end depth chart for the Giants behind Evan Engram, Rudolph and Kaden Smith.

If/when he’s let go, Toilolo will surely find some opportunities as a backup somewhere else in short order. It’s just that the Giants don’t have a real place for him, and as they hone in on who they’ll go into the 2021 season with position allocation will prevent carrying four tight ends on the final 53.
