Despite the New York Yankees in the middle of a disappointing campaign, the front office still believes Aaron Boone is the man for the job.

Who would have thought we’d be here in late June and the New York Yankees would be sitting in fourth place of the AL East standings with a 41-38 record. The Bronx Bombers have disappointed in a massive way, as they’re currently 7.5 games back of the first-place Boston Red Sox.

It goes without saying, but New York fans have grown incredibly impatient with manager Aaron Boone. The skipper is having the team’s supporters calling for his job left and right. The Yankees front office isn’t ready to pull the plug, though, as general manager Brian Cashman has given Boone a vote of confidence.

For now, it looks like Boone’s job is safe, as Cashman’s quote above makes you believe that no changes are on the way. With that said, New York simply has to turn things around if Boone wants to leave no doubt that he must return in 2022.

Entering the season, the Yankees were considered favorites to win the American League and go on to play in the World Series. Fast forward to June 30 and the club wouldn’t be making the postseason if things started today. That’s a rough look for the clubhouse, especially Boone.

It really does make things worse when Boston is at the top of the division, especially after the Red Sox played so poorly in 2020. With the All-Star break right around the corner, some time off for the Yankees could be just what this team needs to get its mental game right. The same certainly could be said for Boone.
