Kris Dunn, Forward

Last offseason, the Hawks brought in former Chicago Bulls forward Kris Dunn on a two-year, $10 million contract with a player option for the 2021-22 season. Yet, his tenure in Atlanta has not gotten off to the greatest start due to injuries.

Entering the 2020-21 season, Dunn was already dealing with cartilage disruption in his right knee. But then, Dunn had to undergo surgery to remove loose cartilage in his right ankle. Dunn did not make his season debut until April, where he participated in just four games, none of which were starts. In that stretch of games, Dunn averaged 1.3 points and 1.5 rebounds while shooting 8.3-percent from the field.

Dunn appeared in just five playoff games for the Hawks, where he tallied a total of six points (one-for-five from field), five rebounds, five assists, four turnovers, two blocks and two steals in 32 minutes of playing time.

As mentioned earlier, Dunn has a player option for next season worth over $5 million. It is unlikely that Dunn will decline the option, but that does not mean the Hawks can’t move him. In fact, the Hawks can not trade Dunn until he opts in by the July 28 deadline, per Spotrac. So, a trade could very well be on the table for the Hawks.
