Scouting Report. IF/OF, Yankees. . 2.. Pick Analysis. Miguel Andujar. player. 43

After two rough seasons, 2021 didn’t start out any better for Andujar as he opened the season on the IL with carpal tunnel in his right wrist. He was called up the first time by the Yankees in early May, and quickly recalled before the month was out after being sent down.

From May 30-June 12 (11 games), Andujar posted a 1.046 OPS with five home runs. He has cooled off considerably since (.561 OPS, one home run in 15 games), though he has taken a few more walks over the latter span (four in 52 plate appearances).

Perhaps most importantly for his potential trade value, and also due partially to necessity for the Yankees, Andujar has become a multi-position player. He has played almost exclusively left field so far this season, with a couple games at first base and third base. Getting right down to it, he can probably hold down the fort at all four infield positions and both corner outfield posts now if needed.

Andujar doesn’t have a secure place in the Yankees’ future anymore, and he has two more years of team control remaining. If he can get on another hot streak with the bat in the coming weeks, Cashman may have to cash in an asset.
