Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant is known for his social media personality. Why, then, is he deleting tweets?

No, there’s no hidden Twitter banter of Durant’s that would come off as morally offensive (we think). If anything, KD talks a lot of smack, and therefore it gets to a point where it’s tough to keep up with. Add in a national media that is always looking for him to slip up (guilty as charged), and Durant has good reason to cover his tracks if he’s not entirely comfortable with the conversation at hand.

On Sunday, Durant answered a heckler directly when they asked why he deletes his tweets, rather than saving them as keepsakes.

It turns out he has a very good reason for doing so.

It’s all part of the brand!

Brooklyn Nets: Kevin Durant has a lot of time on his hands this summer

Unlike years past, Durant isn’t recovering from injury this offseason. That means he can focus on bettering his game and his off-court ventures. Durant has many of those, including valuable investments and his own media company.

The Nets, however, fell short of expectations in Year 1 of the Big 3 era. It wasn’t entirely their fault, of course, as neither Kyrie Irving nor James Harden were fully healthy come playoff time. With Durant on the floor and not much depth around them, Brooklyn fell in a tight Game 7 against the Milwaukee Bucks at home.

Next year, the pressure will be on for Brooklyn to not just reach the Finals, but win a championship. Given some of the flashes we’ve seen from them when Durant, Irving and Harden share the floor, they’ll be prohibitive favorites once next season begins.
