LeBron James has spent most of his summer on the high school basketball circuit with his son Bronny, who takes after his dad.

Bronny doesn’t have the same kind of hype coming out of high school as his father, but he’s still a highly-coveted recruit with scholarship offers across the nation, should he choose to pursue that route when the time comes.

LeBron and Bronny have visited familiar territory, as James’ son has played his recent games at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. With one of the game’s greatest on the sidelines, Bronny has performed admirably of late, even showcasing his dad’s signature dunk.

Los Angeles Lakers: LeBron James goes full dad at Bronny’s basketball game

Bronny drew a foul in the closing moments of the game, and the announcer mentioned LeBron’s name as to why the transgression was called in the first place. James heard this, and took offense, telling the announcer not to mention him when calling Bronny’s game.

Bronny is his own person, and while it’s natural to compare him to his father, to do so consistently while calling a high school game, or assume it’s getting him foul calls, is crossing a line. The kid isn’t even in college yet!

It’s tough enough being the son of a living basketball legend. But Bronny doesn’t have to live up to the expectations placed on his father. He can be his own man. If that involves professional basketball, then great. If not, he can still be a success elsewhere.

All signs point to LeBron being a great father for these very reasons. He provides his family with the resources needed to be successful, but doesn’t push them to be something they’re not. Bronny is no exception, and this high school announcer learned that the hard way.
