Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Andrew Chafin. player. 9. LHP. Chicago Cubs. 2

Andrew Chafin would provide some needed bullpen relief from the left-hand side

While he may not be the biggest name on the trading block in Chicago, left-handed relief pitcher Andrew Chafin is the ideal trade acquisition the 2021 Braves should be targeting. They need all the help in the world they can get to fix their lousy bullpen, especially from the left-handed side. Though he is likely walking in free agency, Chafin may be the boost to get this thing turned around.

He’s also a capital-D Dude.

Chafin is in the midst of a career year with the Cubs. He has a 1.51 ERA and an 0.785 WHIP in 38 appearances for Chicago. The 31-year-old southpaw out of Kent State has only walked 10 batters, while striking out 32 in 35.2 innings pitched this season. He is an ideal trade chip Chicago can sell high on. While Chafin will have plenty of suitors, the Braves should be at the front of the list.

As long as the Braves can stay within a handful of games of the hated New York Mets in the NL East race, they should look to add a few pieces ahead of the trade deadline. Again, this team is not rebuilding, so it would serve them to shake up the roster a bit with the right trade or two. Chafin may not be the biggest name dealt by the Cubs this summer, but the Braves may love to get him.

Atlanta must be ready to give up more than expected to land Chafin at the peak of his trade value.
