1. Future draft capital

This one might be a cop-out, but honestly, the Lakers don’t have much to work with. Think about it this way: Alex Caruso is a free agent, Montrezl Harrell has a player option…who else is this team going to trade besides Kuzma, THT and picks?

The Lakers have their 2021 NBA Draft pick. If they want to add another superstar, they better act quickly because their next three draft picks (swap rights in 2023 with New Orleans) belong to the Pelicans. That’s what happens when you trade for Anthony Davis.

Some combination of first and second-round picks could land the Lakers another ball-dominant player, such as a DeMar DeRozan or Kemba Walker. That’s what they’re missing, especially when LeBron isn’t on the floor.

After taking a significant step back in 2021, the time is now for the Lakers to forfeit their future for the present.
