1. New York Jets

The Jets are entering a new era under head coach Robert Saleh, along with the latest candidate to be their franchise quarterback in rookie No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson. They made additions to the wide receiver corps in free agency (Corey Davis, Keelan Cole ) and the draft (Elijah Moore), to go with holdovers Denzel Mims and (at least into the season) Jamison Crowder.

Looking to next offseason, the Jets will be well-equipped to be aggressive again in free agency. Spotrac tabs them with the second-most 2022 cap space right now ($80.9 million), and Over The Cap has them with third-most projected space ($72.47 million). With a quarterback going into the second year of a rookie contract at that point, a very good position to be in, they won’t have to pony up to solidify the most important position on the field.

Davis is not an ideal No. 1 wide receiver, and he may show as much this season with greater attention from opposing top cornerbacks. But he is certainly a solid No. 2, and money will be no object for the Jets next offseason when it comes to trying to add someone who is a No. 1 guy.

If Wilson shows promise as a rookie, the Jets will be an appealing landing spot for free agent wide receivers next March. Robinson can get paid and join a good young quarterback in New York–the best of both of those worlds.
