White Sox fans boo Jose Altuve like there’s no tomorrow (Video)
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve received his usual road welcoming from Chicago White Sox fans.
It’s become something of a custom for opposing fans to give their fair share of heckling whenever the Houston Astros come to town.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a fan of teams like the Yankees and Dodgers who were victims of the Astros’ cheating scandal in the 2017 ALCS and World Series respectively, everyone is getting in on the Houston jeers.
Jose Altuve received a welcoming of boos, per usual
White Sox fans took their turn as Chicago welcomed the Astros to the South Side for the start of a three-game series.
To the credit of the Astros (55-36), they’ve played extremely well and currently lead the AL West by 3.5 games heading into Friday’s contests. Last summer they battled back from a 3-0 deficit in the ALCS before falling one game shy of reaching their third World Series in the last four seasons.
The White Sox (54-35) have also had success this season, despite suffering numerous injuries to key players. First-year manager Tony La Russa has gotten the most out of this team with a “next man up” mentality, and Chicago’s .607 winning percentage is the best in the American League thus far.
Both the Astros and White Sox figure to be among the teams to beat in the AL this season. In four previous meetings in Houston from June 17-20, the Astros swept the White Sox and outscored Chicago 27-9 in those four games.
October baseball is different from the regular season, but this series will provide an excellent test for both teams to gauge how they fare amongst the league’s best.
