Mets: 3 Francisco Lindor replacements worth trading for at the deadline
By Mark Powell
Mets trade for Freddy Galvis
Galvis has been all over, playing for the rival Phillies, Padres, Blue Jays, Reds and now Orioles. With Baltimore, he is nothing more than midseason trade chip fans should expect to get moved for prospects. The Orioles know what they’re doing, and they want to move forward in their rebuild.
While only signed to a one-year, $1.5 million contract, Galvis is a bargain for Steve Cohen and Co. Should he over-perform on a winning team, he’ll earn himself perhaps one more hefty contract next offseason. If not, it costs the Mets virtually nothing but a few mid-tier prospects at most.
Galvis is hitting .249/.306/.414 on the season. He doesn’t offer much power but is a solid defender that fits in well in the bottom half of the Mets lineup, should they choose.
