Steelers: 3 players to sign after missing out on Malik Hooker
1. The Steelers should look at D.J. Swearinger
The Steelers’ defense is known for its physicality, and D.J. Swearinger would be a solid fit at safety for them. He is known more for his hitting and dirty work, which compliments Fitzpatrick’s finesse and ball skills. He has considerable experience and is only just 29-years-old, so it makes sense for Pittsburgh to inquire about him, right?
He jumped around the past few seasons and hasn’t played in a full 16-game season since 2017. He was with the Saints last year but missed some time due to COVID-19. If he can prove to the Steelers that he is fully healthy and committed to doing his job, they should definitely consider signing him and pairing him with Fitzpatrick.
