Did Anthony Rizzo’s dad just reveal the Cubs are trading Anthony Rizzo with this gesture?

Anthony Rizzo is one of the biggest names on the trade block but it sounds like his family is already prepared for him to leave the Chicago Cubs.

The Chicago Cubs are in a state of transition and could be saying goodbye to some of the biggest and best names from the 2016 World Series team.

Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant and Javy Baez have all been mentioned in various trade rumors the past month since the team plunged down the NL Central standings.

While it seemed like the Cubs intended to try to re-sign Rizzo and Baez with Bryant being the most likely to be traded, it now looks like Rizzo could also be on his way out of town.

And if Tuesday night’s game to the Cincinnati Reds was any indication, his family is already preparing for his next stop.

Anthony Rizzo’s dad knows his son will be traded by Cubs

A Cubs fan spotted Rizzo’s dad thanking every Cubs employee he came across for how they treated his son during his time with the organization. This is not quite “hug watch” and if it happened any other time of the year, it would just be a really kind and thoughtful gesture, but days ahead of the trade deadline, it means this is his way of saying goodbye.

“Spotted Anthony Rizzo’s dad walking around Wrigley tonight literally thanking every employee he saw for what they’ve done for his family during his son’s time on the team.”

The Boston Red Sox has been mentioned as a possible destination for Rizzo. The organization drafted Rizzo before trading him to the San Diego Padres. That same front office then traded for him when they arrived in Chicago. Now, Jed Hoyer could be making another trade of Rizzo ahead of the July 30 deadline.

Rizzo will be a free agent at the end of the year and reportedly rejected a 5-year, $75 million dollar offer from the Cubs before the season started. It was a low-ball offer from the Cubs who hoped Rizzo would take a hometown discount. The franchise has cried poor so their reluctance to give him a respectable offer may have sealed his fate to play the remainder of his career in a uniform other than a Cubs uni.
