Javy Baez has commented on his future in free agency, and Cubs fans are going to want earmuffs.

The Chicago Cubs have a ton of decisions to make ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline, but the team isn’t alone in that.

Shortstop Javy Baez has been mentioned in trade rumors, but he seems to be the least likely member of the Cubs core to be dealt before the deadline passes on Friday. Baez still has a huge decision to make, however, as he will enter free agency this winter and could leave the North Side.

Losing Kris Bryant would be a brutal blow for fans, Anthony Rizzo has been the heart of the team for over a decade, but Baez leaving would truly signal the end of an era. Cubs fans love Baez with an undying passion, one that equals his passion for them and the game.

Usually, earmuffs need to come out to help censor the explicit passion that Javy brings to Wrigley. He’s great on Silent Movie Mode for young fans who don’t need that sort of education yet (who are we kidding, it’s never too young), but his passion is undeniable.

That passion is being channeled into his next project, however, and it’s the sort of thing Cubs fans will want to tune out and pretend they didn’t hear. Baez spoke about his free agency and revealed where he would be willing to sign — and it’s not in Chicago.

“If I go to the free agency, I would like to play with Francisco Lindor,” Baez said this week during an interview with Mega 106.9 FM. “I loved playing with him in the World (Baseball) Classic. It is the only option I would take to play second base if it is to play with him, otherwise I stay playing at shortstop.”

Earmuffs, Cubs fans!
