The New York Jets have finally signed No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson who was the last first-rounder from the 2021 NFL Draft to come to an agreement on his rookie contract.

Zach Wilson has signed his rookie contract with the New York Jets and will soon report to training camp.

Wilson was the last unsigned draft pick in his class and missed the start of training camp.

The Jets and Wilson agreed to a four-year deal worth $35.1 million with a fifth-year option. Wilson gets a signing bonus of $22.9 million that Ian Rapoport reported he’ll receive within 15 days.

Zach Wilson contract details

Wilson represents the face of a new era of Jets football. Along with new head coach Robert Saleh, the Jets are hoping the No. 2 pick out of BYU make a quick adjustment to the NFL, because he’ll be expected to start from Day 1.

Literally, as soon as Wilson reports to camp, he’ll be getting the reps with the first-team offense.

It may be full of growing pains but the Jets love his arm talent and what he brings to the field. With a quality offensive line blocking for him, the Jets will have to surround him with skill position players and trust Saleh will be able to put a top defense on the field.

The Sam Darnold era was a spectacular failure for the Jets but there’s hope Wilson will be able to change the fortunes of the organization as they hope to return to the playoffs.
