QB, Jaguars. . player. 2.. 52. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Gardner Minshew

Minshew is clearly not ready to concede anything to No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence, with a graphic (and funny) description of what he thinks about being “No. 2”.

“In preparation for the competition, I haven’t take a s–t in weeks. No. 2 isn’t an option for me,” Minshew joked on the Green Light with Chris Long podcast.

As soon as the Jaguars earned the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft, lining them up to take Lawrence, Minshew became the easy subject of trade rumors. His status as a cult hero in Jacksonville, upon surprisingly stepping in as a starter and going 6-6 during his 2019 rookie season as a sixth-round pick out of Washington State, makes it easy to set aside how well Minshew has actually played.

In 23 games over the past two seasons for the Jaguars (20 starts, 7-13 record), Minshew has completed nearly 63 percent of his passes with 37 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. His thumb injury last year lined Jacksonville up to embrace “Tanking for Trevor” by turning to Jake Luton and Mike Glennon under center.

Minshew is lined up for a Ryan Fitzpatrick-like career as an NFL gypsy capable of providing excitement and erratic play in equal measure. A trade within the division feels unlikely, but the Colts should have Minshew on their list of possible Wentz fill-ins.
