2. B.J. Goodson

Even though Rodgers was teammates with B.J. Goodson for one season, he is one of the better linebacker options in free agency as of this writing.

The Packers acquired Goodson in a trade with the New York Giants back in 2019, as he was in the final year of his rookie contract. Goodson was a rather serviceable linebacker for the Packers, as he recorded 37 total tackles (23 solo, 14 assisted) through 15 regular-season games.

After the 2019 campaign, Goodson signed a one-year deal with the Cleveland Browns. Goodson was the starting middle linebacker for the Browns, where he recorded a team-high 91 total tackles in addition to posting six defended passes, three quarterback hits, two interceptions, one fumble recovery and 0.5 sacks through 14 regular-season games. In Cleveland’s two playoff games, Goodson recorded 16 total tackles.

Even though Rodgers named difference-making players like Micah Hyde and Casey Hayward as individuals he felt were mistreated by the Packers on the way out, they are not going to be made available. Hyde is a starting safety for the Bills, while Hayward just signed a one-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders to be the veteran presence in their defensive backfield.

Goodson could be a solid option for the Packers, especially if they want to shore up their inside linebacker corps.
