1. Danny Green
Lakers fans loved to criticize Danny Green during his one season in LA. After all, he had made a blistering 45.5 percent of his 3s with the Toronto Raptors the season prior, and once he joined the Lakers, his 3-point prowess dipped all the way to 36.7 percent — still good, but nowhere near the lights-out shooting he had provided the season before or throughout his entire career, for that matter (40.1 percent).
With that being said, 3-and-D players are at a premium in this league, and Green bounced back with the Philadelphia 76ers last season, averaging 9.5 points per game on 40.5 percent shooting from distance. He was a big part of the Sixers’ stingy defense, and he’d address some very real areas of concern for this Lakers roster that’s devoid of spacing outside of Wayne Ellington and the streaky Malik Monk.
If the Lakers are able to bring Danny Green in, I think they’ve saved the offseason fairly decently. I’d feel way better if Caruso was still around obviously, but rebounding with Monk out of thin air is pretty impressive.

Green is worth more than the veteran minimum, so this is probably a pipe dream for the Lakers, who have very little to offer in terms of a competitive salary offer. But if the 34-year-old Green’s top priority is winning another title, and if the Sixers don’t lock him in, he could do a lot worse than a Lakers squad brimming with star power. It’ll take a steep discount, but don’t rule it out just yet.
