The annual chaos of NBA free agency has begun. After a flurry of reported deals, you might be wondering, when does NBA free agency end?

The 2021 NBA free agency period opened up on Aug. 2 at 6:00 p.m. ET, when teams could begin negotiating with players. Already dozens of deals have been announced, and players can begin signing their agreed-upon contracts on Aug. 6 at 12:01 p.m. ET.

If you’re an NBA fan who is struggling to keep up with all the offseason moves, be sure to check out FanSided’s free agency trackers for Day 1 and Day 2. If you’re overwhelmed by the roster shuffling, we have good and bad news. The good news is things usually start to calm down a bit after the first few days of Woj bombs. The bad news is, there’s no official end date for NBA free agency, so there could still be more details dropping here and there for weeks to come.

When is the NBA free agency period over?

Free agents can be signed at any point in the offseason or even during the season up until a deadline date, usually after the trade deadline. There is of course a deadline to buy players out of their contracts, and then there’s a deadline to add players to the roster before the playoffs begin. However, those dates change every year and have not yet been set for 2021-22.

You can explore the NBA offseason schedule and key confirmed dates for 2021-22 here. Training camp starts on Sept. 28 and the regular season gets underway on Oct. 19, meaning there’s still plenty of time for teams to make additional moves.

So, basketball fans, you’ll just have to stay tuned for the latest NBA free agency updates!
