It may be time to see what Atlanta area native Drew Waters can do in The Show

While Atlanta still needs to get back a handful of players on its big-league roster, including d’Arnaud, right-hander pitcher Huascar Ynoa and recently acquired outfielder Eddie Rosario, it is only a matter of time before Atlanta area native Drew Waters makes his MLB debut. Waters was drafted by the Braves in the second round in 2017 out of Etowah High School in Cherokee County.

Thus far into his professional career, Waters is the Braves’ No. 2 overall prospect behind only fellow AAA outfielder Cristian Pache. While Pache has played at the big-league level at times over the last two seasons, he has struggled at the plate throughout. So even if we do get Pache to return to the big-league roster with the September call-ups, Waters should absolutely join him.

Again, this is more about getting a sneak preview about what the very best of the top of the Braves’ farm system has in store for us down the line. The organization’s No. 5 prospect in left-hander Kyle Muller has pitched very well in his run with Atlanta. If Waters can pinch hit, be a defensive substitution or get the occasional spot-start, Braves Country would welcome that.

Even after the trade deadline, the Braves have a few rosters moves internally to still get better.
