NFL Twitter reacted to Buffalo Bills backup quarterback Mitchell Trubisky’s performance during Friday’s preseason game against the Detroit Lions.

In their first game of the preseason, the Buffalo Bills understandably made quarterback Josh Allen inactive. That meant the Bills would rely on backup and former second-overall selection Mitchell Trubisky to start in his place.

On the very first drive of the game, the Bills relied heavily on the running game. But on his first pass attempt in a Bills uniform, it was low and away from his intended target Isaiah McKenzie. There were plenty of fans who shared their thoughts following that play.

Mitchell Trubisky’s preseason showing did not inspire the most confidence

While Trubisky did not get the benefit of the doubt on his very first throw with the Bills, he did redeem himself with a 10-yard completion to tight end Dawson Knox.

Trubisky was replaced midway through the second quarter for Davis Webb, who completed a six-yard touchdown pass to running back Devin Singletary on his very first drive. Trubisky’s stat-line was simple — completed one-of-two pass attempts for 10 yards.

For the Bills, they are not expecting Trubisky to be their starter. But the fanbase sure is hoping that Allen is active for the entirety of the upcoming season. If he is not, they will have to rely on the former Chicago Bear.
