Muhammad Ali’s grandson Nico Ali Walsh will wear trunks originally made for Ali in his pro debut on the Aug. 14 ESPN Top rank boxing card.

Nico Ali Walsh makes his pro boxing debut on the Aug. 14 Top Rank fight card on ESPN. He’s got big shoes to fill, or should we say trunks.

Walsh is the grandson of heavyweight great and sports legend Muhammad Ali. The 20-year-old Walsh fights Jordan Weeks in a four-round middleweight bout. He’s also wearing his grandfather’s trunks to the ring.

A segment on the ESPN+ undercard detailed Walsh’s fight trunks gifted to him by Ali’s former business manager Gene Kilroy. Everlast specifically made the trunks for Ali in the 1960s. Kilroy held onto them for years but thought they belonged with Walsh.

It’s unknown if Ali ever wore the trunks in the ring, but they were specifically made for ‘The Greatest’ during his prime, and now his grandson will keep the Ali name going by wearing them in 2021.

Catch Walsh is his pro debut on ESPN. He will appear on the main card, which begins at 10 p.m. ET.
