DeMarcus Cousins continues to play meaningful roles on quality NBA teams

Though he is no longer the All-Star-level player he was in his prime with the Sacramento Kings, center DeMarcus Cousins can be counted on to play meaningful minutes on teams that matter. He did that for the Warriors during the 2018-19 NBA season. While he missed all of the 2019-20 campaign with a torn ACL, he played a lot down the stretch for the rival LA Clippers in 2021.

While he is firmly on the wrong side of 30, Cousins knows that winning a championship will go a long way towards helping him reshape his NBA legacy. An immense talent coming out of Kentucky no doubt, but his on-court antics and playing in Sacramento’s perpetual dysfunction took a toll on his reputation. He has tried his best to change that of late, and a Golden State return may happen.

Cousins averaged 16.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game in his one year with the Warriors. Though he failed to average double digits in scoring for the first time in his career last season, Cousins did help the Clippers reach their first Western Conference Finals in franchise history. With his health, it is a year-to-year thing for him, but he would be perfect for Golden State.
