Tigers should call up Kody Clemens

The son of Roger Clemens isn’t going to light the world on fire at the major-league level, but he could provide the Tigers some depth at both second base and shortstop, and won’t hurt the player development of some of their top prospects.

Instead, the Tigers can see what they have in Clemens, their 12th-ranked prospect per MLB.com.

MLB.com put it best, signaling the Clemens deserves an opportunity in the bigs. Clemens is hitting .249 at Triple-A, and provides solid defense at a position of need for Detroit.

"“These last few weeks should allow the organization to assess where it stands with some of its youth headed into the offseason, and it just so happens that second base has been a point of weakness in 2021…The left-handed slugger has a bat-first profile, and at 25 years old, he’s earned a shot to see how that bat plays in The Show.”"

Clemens would slot in perfectly at second behind Jonathan Schoop, and split time with either Isaac Paredes or Willi Castro. Detroit can sort all three of those young players out, seeing who can emerge as the best of the bunch by season’s end.
