Tottenham rejected soundly by Villarreal transfer Pau Torres

Tottenham’s attempt to swoon Villarreal transfer Pau Torres did not go according to plan, as the La Liga star is staying put.

Spurs would’ve paid the release clause of Torres, which was accepted by Villarreal. Unfortunately, the player himself was not impressed with Tottenham’s attempt, and is refusing to sign over to the Premier League side.

Per the Daily Mail, Torres won’t sign with Spurs due to a perceived lack of Champions’ League chances this coming season. Torres will only consider leaving the La Liga side for a team with real UCL opportunity this coming campaign.

Torres is not the only player to reject Tottenham of late, as Jules Kounde refused to join the North London side as well. This all comes on the heals of Harry Kane transfer rumors, who himself has been linked to both Chelsea and Manchester City.

Tottenham rumors: Spurs not in chase of Pau Torres

Spurs will have to look elsewhere for a high-caliber defender, as Torres has no interest in joining their side. In fact, the only team that would realistically meet his demand is Chelsea, which to this point hasn’t been linked to Torres.

However, Torres won’t get Champions League experience with Villarreal, either, as they finished 19 points out of fourth place in La Liga.
