It’s looking likely that midfielder Saul Niguez will leave Atletico Madrid this summer and both Chelsea and Manchester United want him in town.

The Saul Niguez tranfer rumors continue to heat up, with the midfielder gaining plenty of interest from multiple teams across Europe. With that said, two teams appears to be standing out in the hunt to try and land him: Chelsea and Manchester United.

According to Spain’s Diario AS, the talks between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have really heated up over the past 24 hours, while Manchester United is also keen on making something happen as well. While no one has a clear advantage, Niguez’s move to the Premier League very well could be happening before the transfer window closes.

Manchester United and Chelsea are battling it out for Saul Niguez

Chelsea is off to a hot start to the English Premier League season, as the Blues opened up with a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace and followed that up with a 2-0 win on the road against Arsenal. In that victory over the Gunners, Romelu Lukaku made his debut and scored the opening goal.

Meanwhile for Manchester United, the club started the campaign with a 5-1 win over Leeds, but looked sloppy in a 1-1 draw with Southampton over the weekend. The midfield play was sluggish, as both Fred and Nemanja Matic had days to forget. United supporters have been calling for a new midfielder to step in all summer, and Niguez would no doubt be a dream signing.

Chelsea’s push for a league title would only get stronger if Niguez were to make his way to Stamford Bridge. Keep in mind, the team won the Champions League last year too. We could have our answer in the coming days as to there Niguez will be headed next, with either Chelsea or Manchester United about to score a big win.
