Joc Pederson called out on a pitch he didn’t swing at

Pederson was subsequently tossed for arguing with the umpire, who stuck to his guns. That was a theme in Tuesday night’s game, as both teams were victims to brutal officiating.

The side angle of Pederson’s check swing appears to show him hold up.

Brian Snitker also came out to argue the play, but to no avail. The decision had been made.

Such bang-bang decisions are tough to make from an umpire’s point of view, but it stresses the importance of a replay system to get these right.

Ozzie Albies strikeout had Braves up in arms

Against reliever Chad Green, Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies was called out on a strike way out of the zone, leading some to call for an electronic strike zone which has been implemented in some independent leagues.

Albies’ plate discipline is solid, and any time he’s caught looking at a questionable call, odds are it was the wrong one.
