To no one’s surprise, Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer has named Trevor Lawrence his Week 1 starter.

While the announcement from Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer may have taken a little longer than expected, the obvious news has finally been revealed on Wednesday: Trevor Lawrence will start Week 1.

The No. 1 overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft has long been pegged to be a starting signal-caller in this league and the Jaguars won’t waste any time in having the rookie go out and show the world what he can do. Come Sept. 12 against the Houston Texans, it will indeed be Lawrence who leads the offense out onto the field.

Jaguars fans have mixed emotions about Trevor Lawrence getting the starting nod against Houston

After his phenomenal career with the Clemson Tigers, Lawrence was the no-brainer pick at the top of the board for Jacksonville. This preseason, though, he’s struggled at times, but there’s no denying the offensive line hasn’t been doing him any favors when he’s on the gridiron.

Because of this, several Jaguars fans are a bit concerned about him starting right away, while others can’t wait to see what the youngster can get done against the Texans.

Lawrence understands there will be tons of pressure on him moving forward. Being a No. 1 overall pick and the player labeled as the one to try and turn things around for an organization can’t be easy. However, Lawrence is ready to face the challenge head on and not back down from anyone.

There might be some growing pains early on, but Jacksonville didn’t invest so much in Lawrence to have him hold a clipboard on the sidelines. The time is now for Lawrence to try and take the NFL by storm.
