Daurice Fountain, Wide Receiver

The Chiefs signed Fountain over the offseason shortly after they worked him out, meaning they loved what they saw. Fountain was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the fifth-round of the 2019 draft. He never was able to make an impact after battling injuries and being on and off of the roster.

The Chiefs lost wide receiver Sammy Watkins to the Ravens over free agency, leaving a void for a “big-bodied” receiver in Kansas City. Fountain is 6-foot-2, 210 pounds and can definitely be that possession receiver for Patrick Mahomes that they currently lack.

Fountain impressed in the preseason, totaling 10 catches and 118 yards. Although he was playing against second and third stringers, he showed out. More notably, he looks like an overall better player than the Chiefs’ 2021 fifth-round receiver Cornell Powell.

Fountain appears to have cemented his spot on this roster, due to his size and his knack for finding and catching the football almost every time he gets targeted. He could easily make this roster while subsequently forcing Powell off of this team and onto the practice squad.
