White Sox postseason roster: Brian Goodwin is a no-go

Brian Goodwin is a depth outfielder at this point on the South Side, and despite having plenty of experience at 30 years old, there isn’t really a place for him on the playoff roster.

The White Sox have better outfield options than Goodwin. Billy Hamilton is a speedster. Leury Garcia is a switch-hitter.

Goodwin hits just .227 and doesn’t offer much on the basepaths or when it comes to run production. In the end, unless there’s a significant injury defensively, Goodwin is more of a depth option than anything else. Stash him and save him just in case.

White Sox postseason roster: Danny Mendick is an unnecessary asset

Mendick is third string on the White Sox depth chart at both shortstop and second base, and it’s unlikely Chicago will need him unless they deal with injuries to the middle of their infield.

The 27-year-old is hitting just .217 and doesn’t offer much in terms of on-base percentage or speed on the basepaths. So, in this case, he may be left on the reserves roster altogether.
