Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. was understandably hyped up over his game-tying grand slam against the Oakland Athletics.

The Blue Jays are still fighting for a wild card spot, so their series with the Athletics is serious business.

It wasn’t a postseason home run, but Lourdes Gurriel Jr.’s looked a bit like Jose Bautista when he celebrated a game-tying grand slam against Oakland on Friday night.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr.’s celebration shows how much September ball means

That’s what September baseball is all about. Gurriel and his Blue Jays teammates are leaving it all out there in hopes of extending their season.

Toronto was down 8-2 before their eighth-inning rally. Gurriel tied the game at 8-8 after Vlad Guerrero Jr. hit an RBI single and another run was walked in.

Marcus Semien finished off the Blue Jays rally

Just when it looked like the Athletics would see them off by scoring two more runs in the top of the ninth, Marcus Semien hit a walk-off three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth.

Toronto is not giving up any time soon, that much is clear.

The comeback win gave the Blue Jays a leg up as the series moves into the weekend. They’ll face off with the A’s again on Saturday and Sunday with wild card implications
