Projected college football rankings after Week 1: Clemson, Oklahoma, LSU drop; Georgia up to No. 2
10. Iowa State Cyclones (Last Week: 7)
The Cyclones might be lucky to stay in the top 10 here as they barely got by Northern Iowa. However, it counts in the win column as a win and they can redeem themselves as they get to take on Iowa next. If the program wins that one it will gain spots again.
9. Florida Gators (Last Week: 13)
Florida opened its campaign with a relatively easy victory against Florida Atlantic. The Gators are going to get the jump over teams that lost ahead of them and those that underwhelmed. The Gators have South Florida next before they get a chance at Alabama.
8. Notre Dame Fighting Irish* (Last Week: 9)
Notre Dame is the other asterisk on this list. They haven’t played yet as they get ready to take on Florida State on Sunday. The Irish are one of those programs that could see themselves on the cusp of the top four soon potentially with some help. A win over Florida State likely moves them up a spot.
7. Cincinnati Bearcats (Last Week: 8)
The Bearcats rolled over Miami of Ohio in their opener. Cincinnati hanging around the top five seems to be familiar territory right now. Cincinnati at 7 is likely to be as high as it gets some more help in front.
6. Texas A&M (Last Week: 6)
No change for the Aggies as they defeated Kent State in the opener. They also need losses in front of them to make the move up. They also get their chance against Alabama as well down the road, aka the road less traveled. Right now, the Aggies should see no change.
