Projected college football rankings after Week 1: Clemson, Oklahoma, LSU drop; Georgia up to No. 2
5. Clemson (Last Week: 3)
The Tigers are going to drop after their loss to the Bulldogs but it won’t be far. Expect them to be the first team on the outside looking in. It also shouldn’t be a long stay for Clemson as they should work their way back in if they take care of business in the ACC as they usually do and one of Oklahoma or Ohio State slips up.
4. Oklahoma (Last Week: 2)
With Georgia earning a win against Clemson and Ohio State pulling out a conference road win, the Sooners could slide into the four spot. They only managed three points in the second half against Tulane and needed everything to get a week one win. It’s feasible they could be three, but four makes more sense.
3. Ohio State (Last Week: 4)
While the Sooners didn’t have a strong second half in the opener, the Buckeyes did. Ohio State had a bit of a trap to open the season playing Minnesota on the road. C.J. Stroud needed time to settle in and Ryan Day’s second-half adjustments helped the Buckeyes click. They should move to three.
2. Georgia (Last Week: 5)
Georgia picked up the biggest win of the week as they took down No. 3 Clemson. The Bulldogs likely vault up to the second spot by virtue of the win they picked up. It’s hard to see Ohio State and Oklahoma have a stronger argument for this spot. Georgia’s defense held the Tigers to just three points in a dominant showing.
1. Alabama (Last Week: 1)
Alabama was Alabama and that’s all you need to know about the program’s Week One performance. The Crimson Tide thoroughly embarrassed Miami and Bryce Young looks like a superstar after his start. They hold onto the top spot with ease.
