Eloy Jimenez hit in knee by foul ball in terrifying scene (Video)

Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez was hit in the knee by a foul ball in Tuesday’s game against the Oakland Athletics.

The Chicago White Sox are entering the final stretch of the regular-season, as they hold a rather sizable lead in the AL Central division. With the postseason on the horizon, the last thing the White Sox needed was one of their everyday players getting injured.

In the top of the second inning of Tuesday night’s game against the Oakland Athletics, the White Sox received a scare after outfielder Eloy Jimenez was struck in the right knee by a foul ball from teammate Andrew Vaughn. It is important to note that the dugouts at RingCentral Coliseum do not have railings to protect the players from foul balls.

Despite Jimenez falling to the ground holding his knee, he remained in the game and took left field.

The White Sox, who had dealt with a variety of injuries to their players this offseason, had to have breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing Jimenez was fine after that scare.

Jimenez had missed the start of the season after he suffered a torn pectoral muscle in spring training. After undergoing surgery, he made his return on July 26. Through 34 games played this season, Jimenez is slashing .267/.326/.496 while recording eight home runs, 30 RBI, 17 runs and 35 hits.

A scary scene on Tuesday, but luckily Jimenez appears to be okay after being hit by a foul ball.
