2. Raheem Mostert vs. Detroit Lions

Raheem Mostert slipped in drafts this year due to the San Francisco 49ers’ drafting of Trey Sermon out of Ohio State.

Whether Mostert handles the bulk of the work or splits time, he will get the ball a lot as Head Coach Kyle Shanahan wants to run the ball more than 500 times in 2021, per The Athletic.

The 49ers will surely begin their race to said attempts versus the Detroit Lions, who gave up the fifth-most rushing yards in the NFL last season.

With the 49ers quarterback situation up in the air and Shanahan still refusing to name a starter, they are certain to rely on the rushing attack even more regardless of who starts.

Mostert will head this backfield in what should be an all-out ground assault by the 49ers, tearing apart the Lions’ front seven with Shanahan’s zone rushing scheme and Mostert’s slashing speed.

Comfortably start Mostert where he is needed this week, whether he’s your RB2 or your FLEX.
