DraftKings NFL 2021: Best lineup for Week 1
By Nick Villano
Quarterback: Matt Ryan $6,000
On the surface, the quarterback position is the most important position in football. They control the offense, and a team with a bad quarterback inherently can’t be a good team. However, that’s not how it works in fantasy or in daily fantasy. There is only one quarterback in the lineup, and there are always deals available.
10 different quarterbacks recorded some of the 50 highest scoring days in fantasy last season from any position. It isn’t about only trusting Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen. It’s about knowing the matchup and seeing when a team is ready to take advantage. The Atlanta Falcons are looking to shake off a stretch of bad seasons as Matt Ryan is trying to resurrect his career under Arthur Smith.
Ryan was once one of the best quarterbacks in the league. He could easily throw for 5,000 yards, with seemingly half of his throws going Julio Jones’ way. Now, Jones is in Tennessee and Ryan is relying on Calvin Ridley to take his spot. He does add tight end superstar Kyle Trask as a rookie, and Mike Davis proved last season he can make things happen catching the ball out of the backfield.
Ryan just has to make sure he avoids mistakes against the Philadelphia Eagles in order to put up a great fantasy day.
