1. player. 36. . Quarterback. Seattle Seahawks. Russell Wilson

It may seem obvious, but quarterback Russell Wilson has some unique obstacles to overcome in the season opener to truly start the season off right.

After fans petitioned to let Russ cook for years, the quarterback finally let it happen… and then he dropped the pan. While Reed, Dunlap and others banded together to bolster the defense, the Seahawks offense rapidly declined in the last eight games of the 2020 season.

While the team pulled off 12 wins and a playoff berth, their disintegration during their playoff match against the Rams demonstrated just how much the passing game unraveled. Seeing Wilson submit to sacks late into the season and into the playoffs stresses the importance of a balanced passing attack — Russ cannot cook alone.

And that’s where Shane Waldron comes in. The new offensive coordinator has already revitalized the offense, encouraging quicker throws instead of a heavy rotation of runs and deep passes.

With Waldron drawing up a decentralized gameplan that looks to incorporate two tight ends, a healthy and wealthy Chris Carson, and arguably the best wide receiver pair in the NFL, Wilson just might have a play at MVP this year if he can dazzle in his 2021 debut.
