Former Cubs outfielder Kris Bryant is looking forward to closure in his first visit to Wrigley Field since being traded to the San Francisco Giants.

On Friday, Kris Bryant will finally get to say a proper goodbye to the Cubs faithful at Wrigley Field.

The Giants outfielder is set to make his first visit to his former home and he’s already emotional about it.

“I didn’t really get that closure, so it is nice to go back so quickly and kind of say bye to some of the people that I didn’t get to say bye to,” Bryant said per Maria Guardado of MLB.com.

The Cubs traded Bryant to the Giants for two prospects before this year’s MLB trade deadline.

Bryant spent seven years playing for Chicago in the majors. He was the 2015 NL Rookie of the Year and took home the NL MVP award the same season the Cubs finally broke through for their World Series title. His place in Cubs lore is set because of those accomplishments.

Since joining San Francisco, the four-time All-Star has hit .265/.328/.487 with six home runs.

San Francisco has a 2.5-game lead over the Dodgers in the NL West. They’re on a four-game win streak after sweeping the Rockies and they’ll be looking to maintain or build their lead this weekend.

Of course, the Cubs won’t be sentimental when it comes to facing Bryant. They’re enjoying themselves right now with nine wins in their last 10. They may not be in the playoff picture, but they can still give the big boys a test.
