Jared Cook, Los Angeles Chargers

Rostered: 19.7%

The Los Angeles Chargers signed tight end Jared Cook following the departure of Hunter Henry. Henry played a large role with the Chargers offense over the past two years. He was targeted 93 times last season.

Cook was a Pro Bowl selection in 2018 with the Raiders and 2019 with the Saints. In fact, he was seventh among tight ends in fantasy points in 2019. Although his numbers in 2020, he still finished the season strong. Over the final five weeks of the season, Cook was actually the fifth-highest scoring tight end in the league.

It is surprising that he is only rostered in 19.7 percent of leagues. He is an excellent waiver wire add for Week 1 and beyond.

Tyler Conklin, Minnesota Vikings

Rostered: 3.3%

Unfortunately, tight end Irv Smith Jr. suffered a season-ending meniscus injury. The Minnesota Vikings did acquire Chris Herndon in a trade with the New York Jets, but Tyler Conklin will remain atop the depth chart for now.

Conklin was selected by the Vikings in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He has played a limited role for the Vikings. Last season, he was not even targeted until Week 9.

However, he became increasingly involved in the Vikings offense as the season progressed. Over the final four games of the regular season, Conklin ranked 16th among tight ends in fantasy points and recorded 168 receiving yards. With Smith on the IR, Conklin should continue to remain fantasy relevant.

This week, he will face a vulnerable Bengals defense that gave up the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends last season.
