College football rankings after Week 2: No. 10-6

10. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Notre Dame has to get docked a little bit, which is why they drop two spots from last week’s rankings. Not only were they pushed to the brink by Florida State on Monday but they came out and laid a relative egg against Toledo in Week 2. Jack Coan has looked good but the rest of the Fighting Irish need to pull it together.

9. Ohio State Buckeyes

Ryan Day’s Buckeyes stay in the top 10 because, let’s face it, they lost to a top-15 team by one score. With that being said, there should be concern about Ohio State’s defense right now as they’ve been gashed in the ground game for two straight weeks. That’s something to keep an eye on in Columbus.

8. Iowa Hawkeyes

Anyone thinking the Hawkeyes got unrepeatable turnover luck in Week 1 better think again. Not only is this Iowa defense dominant and able to push a team like Iowa State around but the offensive line can control the game as well. This team has a viable shot of winning the Big Ten this season.

7. Cincinnati Bearcats

There was a legitimate moment early on when Cincinnati and Murray State were neck-and-neck. That was just a moment, though. Led by Jerome Ford, the Bearcats stormed back for a dominant win over the Racers and are one of only a handful of top-10 teams who have done nothing but take care of business through two weeks.

6. Clemson Tigers

D.J. Uiagalelei and Clemson needed a game to get the wheels spinning properly after they were shut down almost completely by Georgia a week ago. Playing South Carolina State was the recipe for doing that and the Tigers were able to barely break a sweat in the 49-3 victory.
