College football rankings: Projected top 10 after Oregon beat Ohio State
By John Buhler
Oregon beating Ohio State in Columbus will shake up the top 10 of the AP Top 25 poll.
With the Oregon Ducks beating the Ohio State Buckeyes by seven points on Saturday afternoon, the top 10 of the AP Top 25 poll will look totally different on Sunday.
This was a battle between the best team in the Big Ten and the best team in the Pac-12. However, the No. 12 Ducks were a menace on the ground to beat the No. 3 Buckeyes in The Horseshoe, 35-28. While Ohio State is not going to fall out of the top 10 entirely, the Buckeyes are not going to be a top-five team anymore. How high will the Ducks climb after improving to 2-0 on the season?
Here is what the top 10 could look like after the Ducks stunning the Buckeyes Saturday afternoon.
College football rankings: Projected top 10 after Oregon defeats Ohio State
- Alabama Crimson Tide
- Georgia Bulldogs
- Oklahoma Sooners
- Texas A&M Aggies
- Clemson Tigers
- Cincinnati Bearcats
- Iowa Hawkeyes
- Oregon Ducks
- Ohio State Buckeyes
- Notre Dame Fighting Irish
The top two are beyond obvious with it being the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs, in that order. These have been by far and away the two most dominant teams through the first two weeks of the season. They are on a collision course to meet each other in Atlanta, possibly both being 12-0 in early December. As for the rest of the top 10, it gets a tad more tricky already.
Oklahoma survived Tulane last week, but the Sooners are the best the Big 12 has to offer at No. 3. Assuming Texas A&M survives in Boulder, the Aggies move up to No. 4. Clemson fell out of the top five last week, but get to No. 5 this week. Cincinnati is No. 6. Iowa moves up to No. 7 with a win over Iowa State. Oregon comes in at No. 8. Ohio State drops to No. 9. Notre Dame falls to No. 10.
Of course, this could all look different if Iowa State comes back to win CyHawk at home in Ames.
